Bargaining Update – 5/17/14

The LTA Bargaining Team met with the district on May 16, 2014.  The district did not present a comprehensive bargaining proposal at the meeting, but provided counterproposals to some of LTA’s proposals from April 28, 2014.  In response, the LTA team proposed reaching side agreements on the time sensitive issues such as summer planning days for Common Core and reimplementation of a 12-month, 24-check pay cycle.  The district was unwilling to reach a side agreement on summer planning but an agreement was reached to re-implement a 12-month, 24-check pay cycle.  Due to the late timing, details of implementation, including whether it will start in July 2014 or July 2015, still need to be worked out with LACOE.

The LTA team expressed great frustration with the lack of urgency on the part of the district.  After months of conversation with our members and the community, the initial LTA proposal includes a wealth of ideas for improving learning and teaching conditions in Lennox.  The district has responded with mostly unacceptable counterproposals and in some cases failed to provide any counterproposals at all.
